Reveal day is finally here! At the start of January, I teamed up with a group of bloggers to take on the $100 room challenge hosted by Erin, from Lemons, Lavender and Laundry. I had one month and $100 to makeover any room in my house. In week one, I introduced you to my room of choice. The third week, I showed some makeover progress and DIY projects I worked on. And now today, I’m revealing my bathroom and giving the breakdown on how much everything cost!

As a quick reminder, here is what my guest bathroom looked like before the makeover:

Some things I wanted to accomplish within my $100 budget:

  • adding shelves and decor above toilet – CHECK! Most of my new decor, I spotted at Hobby Lobby. I waited until things were on sale to get the most bang for my buck! I got my shelves 50% off, my 2 large frames with the prints included 50% off, my “B” tin letter 40% off, my no. 2 tin bin 40% off — all from Hobby Lobby!
  • paint the bright silver hardware to a brushed silver -CHECK! For the bright silver hardware – I used Krylon fusion all-in-one paint + primer, in the color “metallic dark copper”, to paint over it! As you can see in the photos below, I spray painted my toilet paper holder and shower curtain hooks. I didn’t have to sand or anything! It was so easy!
  • update the flooring – CHECK! I was able to find some peel and stick vinyl tile from Lowe’s! The tile went directly on top of my linoleum, was fairly easy to install and changed the whole vibe of the bathroom! I read a lot of reviews on vinyl tiles and all the reviews said the same thing: they are very durable, look more expensive than they actually cost and are high quality!
  • add a frame around the mirror – CHECK (sort of)! I ran out of money in my budget to add an actual frame around my bathroom mirror. But, I remember seeing someone put electric tape around their mirror to make a frame. Luckily for me, we had some on hand! I added the electric tape around my mirror for free and love the result! In fact, I’m going to “frame” out the mirror in my master bathroom, too!
  • replace towel bar – CHECK! I knew I wanted to update the towel bar but, I also ended up replacing the hand towel holder by my sink as well. For my towel bar, I snagged a 3 pack of hooks from Burlington for only $6.99! My hand towel hook, I found at a thrift store for $1 which, miraculously, matched the hooks I found to replace my towel bar! Major score!

And now, for the afters! (keep scrolling to see my budget breakdown)

Budget Breakdown:

Items purchased for makeover:

  • Peel & Stick Vinyl floors – $26.40
  • Farmhouse shelves – $24.98
  • “B” tin letter – $4.99
  • White flower frame – $1.75
  • 4 towel hooks – $7.99
  • No. 2 wire bin – $8.99
  • Glass & twine jar – $2
  • Picture frames – $24.99
  • Mini wreath – $5.99

Items already owned used from my house for makeover:

  • Faux greenery
  • Spray paint
  • Acrylic paint
  • Electric tape
  • “Together is my favorite place to be” sign
  • Glass jar full of sand (from the beach I got married on, thanks mom!)

In the end, I spent $108.08. A little over budget! I could have definitely done without the mini wreath hanging on my middle towel hook. But, overall, I am SO happy with how my bathroom turned out. It’s shocking how big of transformation it was for such a low cost amount!

here are some side by side before & afters:
