Reveal day is finally here! At the start of January, I teamed up with a group of bloggers to take on the $100 room challenge hosted by Erin, from Lemons, Lavender and Laundry. I had one month and $100 to makeover any room in my house. In week one, I introduced you to my room of choice. The third week, I showed some makeover progress and DIY projects I worked on. And now today, I’m revealing my bathroom and giving the breakdown on how much everything cost!
As a quick reminder, here is what my guest bathroom looked like before the makeover:
Some things I wanted to accomplish within my $100 budget:
- adding shelves and decor above toilet – CHECK! Most of my new decor, I spotted at Hobby Lobby. I waited until things were on sale to get the most bang for my buck! I got my shelves 50% off, my 2 large frames with the prints included 50% off, my “B” tin letter 40% off, my no. 2 tin bin 40% off — all from Hobby Lobby!
- paint the bright silver hardware to a brushed silver -CHECK! For the bright silver hardware – I used Krylon fusion all-in-one paint + primer, in the color “metallic dark copper”, to paint over it! As you can see in the photos below, I spray painted my toilet paper holder and shower curtain hooks. I didn’t have to sand or anything! It was so easy!
- update the flooring – CHECK! I was able to find some peel and stick vinyl tile from Lowe’s! The tile went directly on top of my linoleum, was fairly easy to install and changed the whole vibe of the bathroom! I read a lot of reviews on vinyl tiles and all the reviews said the same thing: they are very durable, look more expensive than they actually cost and are high quality!
- add a frame around the mirror – CHECK (sort of)! I ran out of money in my budget to add an actual frame around my bathroom mirror. But, I remember seeing someone put electric tape around their mirror to make a frame. Luckily for me, we had some on hand! I added the electric tape around my mirror for free and love the result! In fact, I’m going to “frame” out the mirror in my master bathroom, too!
- replace towel bar – CHECK! I knew I wanted to update the towel bar but, I also ended up replacing the hand towel holder by my sink as well. For my towel bar, I snagged a 3 pack of hooks from Burlington for only $6.99! My hand towel hook, I found at a thrift store for $1 which, miraculously, matched the hooks I found to replace my towel bar! Major score!
And now, for the afters! (keep scrolling to see my budget breakdown)
Budget Breakdown:
Items purchased for makeover:
- Peel & Stick Vinyl floors – $26.40
- Farmhouse shelves – $24.98
- “B” tin letter – $4.99
- White flower frame – $1.75
- 4 towel hooks – $7.99
- No. 2 wire bin – $8.99
- Glass & twine jar – $2
- Picture frames – $24.99
- Mini wreath – $5.99
Items already owned used from my house for makeover:
- Faux greenery
- Spray paint
- Acrylic paint
- Electric tape
- “Together is my favorite place to be” sign
- Glass jar full of sand (from the beach I got married on, thanks mom!)
In the end, I spent $108.08. A little over budget! I could have definitely done without the mini wreath hanging on my middle towel hook. But, overall, I am SO happy with how my bathroom turned out. It’s shocking how big of transformation it was for such a low cost amount!
Wow! What a difference! I love this idea. My dining room could use a refresh. I’ll have to give this a try!
You totally should give it a try! Setting whatever budget you want, and then sticking to it is difficult but oh so worth it!
I always love watching these $100 room makeovers. I did it with my laundry room. You did a fabulous job!
That’s awesome! I’ll head to your blog next to search for your laundry room makeover! Thanks for checking mine out!
It looks super cute! I’m glad you kept the shower curtain because I love it. Wow, those floors look awesome and a huge improvement. The hooks you used are totally adorable, and what a creative idea for electrical tape!
Thanks so much! The electric tape is probably my favorite part!! It made such an impact on my mirror!
I especially love the flooring you put in. I will be using your bathroom as a springboard for my own project.
Oh — I so love to hear that! Thank you for your support!
This looks awesome! Those floor tiles look great, and I spy the same botanical prints I have from hobby lobby- I love them and got mine on super sale $6 a piece. 🙈
You’re kidding?! That is a super sale! Mine were $12.49 each but they were one of my finishing pieces and I love them!!
This looks incredible! I love the vinyl flooring and shelves. Totally inspired to redo our guest bath now… 🙂
DO IT DO IT! you won’t regret it!
Gorgeous shelves! And I love the floor! You did such a great job!
Thank you Jenn!! Loved your guest bedroom reveal. Still can’t get over how creative those maps were!
It’s amazing how a little decor can completely change a space. I love what you did here!
Right? It’s insane! And for just over $100 I’m so happy with how it turned out!
I SOOOOO want to redo the tile in my guest bathroom, but I’m so intimidated! This really inspires me!
This peel and stick vinyl was so easy to use. It’s totally budget friendly at only .88 cents a square! I’d totally recommend it. There are a lot of different peel and stick options!
I can’t believe how different it looks! The floor alone made a world of a difference, I love it! I also really like the wall where you hung the towels, it really turned out great! If I were to do this challenge, I’d probably do my bathroom as well!

Thanks Madi!! My bathroom was for sure my go to – it’s the only room in my home that I didn’t love! Mainly because of the previous flooring! The challenge is coming up again in september. You should totally do it!
Love this! Amazing what you can do with $100! Love the towel hooks!
Thanks Sarah! I love the hooks too — they are perfect for the farmhouse style!
Very inspiring! Setting a budget of 100$ sounds awesome. It makes you think up new ways to do thinks. Love how your electric black tape turned out on your mirror. If you did say that’s what it was… we wouldn’t have known. I also love how you styled you new shelves. Super cute!
Hi Jenna! That’s exactly what this challenge does!! So often I spend $ aimlessly so, having to stick to a budget (well I went $8 over) really was a challenge! Glad you liked the electric tape! Haha!
the floor! the hooks! I just love it all. so glad to have done this $100 room challenge with you this go round!
Thank you Carmen!! It was so fun to do it with you too! Gotta love a good challenge!
I LOVE how this room came together! That floor is just amazing!
Thanks Beth!! Can you believe it was so inexpensive to do? I’m loving it, too!
Woah, really amazing that that is peel-and-stick. I have some in a storage closet downstairs that was just a concrete slab when we moved in, it’s a gray “polished concrete.” I am pleased with how well it’s held up over the years. Will look forward to seeing how yours holds up, too!
This turned out super cute! Love the new tiles, shelves, and towel hooks. The framed artwork is so pretty. And the “framed” mirror is amazing! I just love how it looks. Great job!
Wow! Those “Peel and stick vinyl floors” look INCREDIBLE! I need them for my house!
NO WAY!!! The floors look amazing! I didn’t realize you could get peel and stick tiles that cheaply. What a difference! Love the added shelves and towel hooks! And I had never heard of the electrical tape hack for framing a mirror, but it looks great! I am so happy you joined the $100 Room Challenge this month! Enjoy that gorgeous bathroom!!!
That floor looks amazing and I also like the towel hooks. I also spent $108 an I think the results where worth the extra few dollars.
